Will photographs and/or video be taken at today’s event?
By taking part in the Charity Texas Hold’em Tournament, you grant the event organizers full rights to use the images from the event resulting from the photography/video filming, and any reproductions or adaptations of the images for fundraising, publicity, or other purposes. This might include (but is not limited to), the right to use them in their printed and online publicity, social media, press releases and funding applications. If you do not wish to be photographed please inform an event organizer.
This is a nonprofit event. Is my auction purchase or entry ticket tax deductible?
Buying an entry ticket to a charitable poker tournament is NOT a deductible expense. That’s because you are not actually making a charitable donation but are technically making a wager or gambling on the chance that you will win the tournament.
Donors who purchase items at a charity auction may claim a charitable contribution deduction for the excess of the purchase price paid for an item over its fair market value. The donor must be able to show, however, that he or she knew that the value of the item was less than the amount paid. Purchasers should discuss potential tax deductions with their accountants.
Do I owe taxes on my tournament winnings?
Some prizes may have IRS withholding taken out and a W-2G issued depending on the amount of the prize. Please contact the event organizer at [email protected] with any questions.
Is there parking at the venue?
Yes, there is free parking at the Crown Ridge Banquet Center for PLAYERS ONLY.
Will food be served?
Yes, snacks, breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with beverages and cocktails will be served throughout the tournament and are complimentary to players with your entry ticket.
Are there other rules or limitations I should know?
Please see Tournament Rules. Courtesy is expected of all people at the event. Inappropriate behavior or language will be grounds for immediate removal from the event. Any person that exhibits they may have consumed too many drinks will be disqualified and asked to leave the event, regardless if they are still playing in the poker event without a refund. Organizers retain the right to refuse alcohol service to anyone. As stated above, based upon venue capacity, there is no guarantee that a player’s guest will be admitted if we are approaching venue capacity. The determinations of the event tournament director are final.
